Delete your account

How to request deletion

Two routes lead to the same place. In the app, open the Profile tab and tap "Delete my account". On this page, use the button below: it exists for people who have already uninstalled the app.

The form asks for your first name, last name and the WhatsApp number of the account. That number is the account identifier, and it is how we find your account.

We then message you on that number to confirm the request. This check is not red tape: without it, anyone knowing a pilgrim's name could have their account deleted and cut them off from their guide at the worst possible moment.

What is deleted

Everything that identifies you is permanently erased:

• Your identity: first name, last name and profile photo.
• Your contact details: WhatsApp number, local number and email address.
• Your health information: conditions, allergies and blood group.
• Your GPS positions, including those under thirty days old that the server had not yet purged.
• Your group memberships and your roll call answers.
• The notification tokens of your devices.

What is kept, and why

Two records survive, and neither can be traced back to you once the account is gone.

A group's history keeps a record of the SOS alerts and roll calls that took place in it, without your name or contact details. A guide must be able to account for what happened during a trip, including after a participant has left.

A technical log keeps a record of sensitive actions, for security and abuse detection. It holds no name, no number and no position: only a technical identifier that has become anonymous.

How long it takes

We handle requests within thirty days at most, and usually within forty-eight hours.

Until the request is handled, your account keeps working normally. You can cancel it by writing to hello.nasafe@gmail.com.
